Overview

Quran Lens ("the App") is a Quran scanning application that uses your device's camera to identify Quranic verses and provide their translation, tafsir (exegesis), and audio recitation. This Privacy Policy explains what data is accessed and how it is handled.

Camera Access

The App requests access to your device's camera solely to scan Quran pages and recognize Arabic text. The camera feed is processed entirely on-device using OCR and text-matching technology.

• Camera images are never saved, uploaded, or transmitted to any server.
• All recognition happens locally on your device in real time.
• You can revoke camera access at any time from your device settings.

Local Storage

The App stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Your saved bookmarks (verses you choose to save).
• Your language preference (English or Arabic).
• Your theme preference (Light, Dark, or Auto).

This data never leaves your device and is deleted if you uninstall the App.

Network Requests

The App makes network requests only to fetch Quran content:

• Verse translations and tafsir are fetched from public Quran APIs (e.g., api.alquran.cloud).
• Audio recitations are streamed from public recitation servers.

These requests contain only the verse reference (surah and ayah number) — no personal information is sent.

Advertising

The App displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). Google may use your device's advertising identifier to show relevant ads.

• Google's data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings (Limit Ad Tracking / Opt out of Ads Personalization).

Analytics

The App uses Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data. This helps us understand how the App is used and improve it over time.

The following anonymous events are collected:

• Screens viewed (e.g. home, scan, settings, bookmarks).
• Quran scanning interactions — when a verse is detected or tapped.
• Verse details viewed (surah name and verse reference only).
• Audio recitation played.
• Bookmarks added or removed.
• Language and theme preferences changed.

No camera images, personal information, or verse text content is included in these events. All data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you.

• Firebase Analytics data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• You can opt out of analytics data collection via your device's system settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising).

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The App contains no features that require personal data entry.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
